Website Development Case Study:
residential real estate agency “Med”(aka Honey)

The residential real estate market is growing and competition is fierce. It is no longer enough for realtors and agencies to do their job efficiently and know the market. In search of new customers, you need a modern website driving traffic to a landing page convenient for visitors and users.

We have already created more than one website for real estate agencies. So we applied our expertise to create an effective product to attract new customers.

CLIENT

MED is a well-established real estate agency that works with “comfort” and “comfort +” class apartments in new buildings in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region. The company has been in operation for only two years, but during this time it has already established itself as a true professional in their field and an expert in the real estate market.

MED works directly with trusted developers, which allows them to offer clients a selection of more than 55,000 properties. The agency has its own mortgage department, which has established cooperation with several banks; this allows MED to provide favourable mortgage programme conditions.

One of the main features of the MED real estate agency is that their services are free of charge for buyers. The agency is there to help you choose and select based on users’ requirements, free of charge. This is possible because the agency’s employees are paid directly by developers, who are interested in buyers. It is therefore very profitable for potential buyers to use this agency.

Challenge

This real estate agency already had an existing website.
It was a classic one-page landing with insufficiently detailed service descriptions, low conversions, and was poorly suited for SEO promotion. The old brochure website needed a modern upgrade to help them promote their new image and to attract new customers.

What did we do?
Stage 1: Develop a new website structure
WebEvolution built a multi-page website to accommodate the agency’s property listings. The most critical consideration was given to the website’s page architecture and ease of navigation, to ensure that users were able to quickly find a property based on their requirements.

Stage 2: Create an attractive, user-friendly inquiry form
Previously, it was hard to get visitors to provide their contact details; we had to fix this problem. It was essential to show all services that the company offered, including consultation, mortgage programmes, assistance in property search by parameters, all-inclusive deal support, and arrangements.

Stage 3: Synchronise
The biggest and most interesting development challenge for this project was synchronising a large property database that had tens of thousands of listings.

DESIGN

From a design perspective, our mission was to create a modern, professional, and bold web design.

We identified all the customer’s requirements. We also analysed direct competitors – other real estate agencies in St. Petersburg – to create an advantageous website that stood out from the others.

We then created an information model to represent concepts and the relationships of the elements, such as the pages, buttons, and illustrations. Once the website design was agreed on with the customer, we proceeded to draft a web design and the layout.

PROTOTYPING

We created a selling landing page with a short property portfolio linked to its full version on a separate page. We added a search filter to enable effective browsing of the catalogue.

We visually depicted how a client navigates the website. To build credibility and trust amongst the visitors, we added photos of the employees and customer reviews linked to social media, so anyone can validate the review authenticity by contacting the author.

We also integrated a map to display multiple available properties. By clicking on each property, users can see additional information about the layout of each apartment.

Additional tools to increase conversion: we added a call-back order form and an easy-to-use mortgage calculator that automatically lists available mortgage programmes within budget.

In addition to all of this, we created a company blog, allowing them to regularly post new blog articles.

DESIGN

We decided on a light-coloured website design. The simplified white-blue-grey colour palette is associated with innovation, professionalism, and reliability. There is a minimum of distracting interface elements so users are not confused when visiting the website to browse the catalogue and view a range of properties.

We also balanced out the website with high-quality photography.

ADAPTABILITY

The website of the real estate agency MED displays beautifully on multiple screen sizes, including on

  • Desktops
  • Tablet
  • Smartphones

DETAILS

The project’s unique feature was its property database with a large number of real estate listings – several dozen residential complexes and 30,000+ apartments. Listing them all online is time-consuming, complicated, and expensive. To solve this problem, we developed an algorithm that uploads data from a third-party aggregator to the website

To make everything work effortlessly, we did the following:

  1. Established daily synchronisation with the real estate service ESBN.ru to provide information about new buildings and apartments upon request.
  2. Converted the property pages provided by this service from XML into ready-made website pages so that each element would be aligned in the style of the agency.
  3. Designed and developed a complex element of the catalogue page using Vue.js
  4. Synchronised Yandex.Maps API and REST API from Umbraco CMS.
  5. Ensured the efficiency of more than 30,000 property pages and 200 pages with residential buildings.

USE THIS CASE STUDY

This website example can be useful for property realtors and real estate agencies with websites that do not generate enough leads. This project showed how to create a real estate website design attractive to buyers, and make it functional, convenient, and one that encourages visitors to get in touch.
